Ode to Carmen |
by Mark Morris |
The blaze of summer behind me now.
Memories made and recounted a good season
Embraced the gifts and braved the challenges
Accepting the autumn with good reason
Flowers are blooming the birds singing
Have you brought the spring can this be true
Nay Mother Nature protest but bends to your will
The sparkle in your eyes that smile from you
Oh cruel Mother you entwine our fates
Then misalign our fair preferences and needs
My heart burns in my chest surely to burst
Will it erupt in pain or new life like the seeds
Will this be our spring or autumn confirm
Share petals and breathe the scented hues
I do believe such effort will not be spent
To rip from our chests the gifts of our muse
Nay our spring has come and summer to follow
New memories to make new gifts to embrace
New challenges to brave new diaries to write
I fear not autumn you bring the spring in your face
