Standing Here
by Jay Williams
Please don't leave me standing here,
Question clinging to my tongue.
Heart dangling from my shirtsleeve,
Praying you're the one.
I've stepped into the open,
Raised my voice so you can hear.
Waved my hands so you can see me,
Stand trembling, but there's no fear.
You've broken down the barrier,
Which no one ever saw.
Thought that I'd be broken too,
Surprised that I'm still standing tall.
Just something about your aura,
Penetrates my soul.
Tells me you're the only one,
Who'll ever pay the toll.
It doesn't accept tokens,
But exchanges of two hearts.
To cross this bridge we're walking on,
A new race we shall start.
There are no other racers,
It's only you and I.
I'll never leave you standing here,
Tears falling from your eyes.
This is my solemn promise,
I give so please take heed.
You're the only one I'll ever want,
You're all I'll ever need!
