night too soon |
by Abdo Levy |
night too soon by the lonely moon the emerald breeze whispering through the trees stay like in the day when the sun’s rays bloomed through crowds of gentle clouds like feathery pillows in the sky with a single eye and not the infinite stars of night a single wish not more for a kiss before I sleep as outside the weeping window beside my bed the sun hides now till tomorrow when I shall wake to the dawning light at my eyes of a warm ginger dye and the blue jay perched on my porch whistling in tune to the absent moon the day again the emerald breeze whispering through the trees again my sun king rise over the river far rise to that glorious sky to a golden throne allow not the moon to reign again in those lingering hours that wither of obscurity like an uncharted sea stay with me and the flowers you showered red and yellow stay for I shall capture the moon for you in my hands for the night never to bloom I shall imprison her in my room and you shall rise over the river far rise to that glorious sky to a golden throne yes a single eye then too a single wish a kiss before I sleep to this dream of mine |
