Mama's Arms
by Ann Marie
Dedicated to Cathy and Katie
(Cathy is the friend that "Cathy" is written about.) I wrote this poem and Katie-her daughter-read it at a Mother/Daughter Banquet in 2000

I fell down hard and scraped my knee
I misspelled a word in the spelling bee

The thunder's loud, the lightning's bright
I cannot sleep without a light

I found some eggs in a little nest
I learned the difference between East and West

With just one blow, the candles went out
My wish will come true there is no doubt

I've had fears and pains, joys and alarms
And through it all reached Mama's Arms.

Holding me close and drying the tears,
She kissed the "owies" and chased away fears.

She always new just what to do,
I hope you know, Mom, that I love you.
