My Wish Upon a Star
by Joanne
Last night when I looked up at a star
I thought to myself, how beautiful, yet so far.
I took a breath and I sighed
As I sat and closed my eyes.
I made a wish from deep within,
How do I start, where do I begin?
My wish consisted of many components
As I thought of you during the moment.
The wish that came from within my heart
Was for us to no longer be apart.
To no longer dream of being within your embrace,
To be able to look up and see your face.
To once again feel the sensation of butterflies,
As I gaze into your expressive eyes.
For your gentle lips to brush up against mine
As we drift off and pay no mind to time.
To hear the words that are oh so true,
The ones that say, I love you.
That is the wish that lies within my heart;
The one for us to no longer be apart.
My wish has been made upon that star,
The one that shines and sits so far.
I took a breath and I sighed
As I stood and opened my eyes.
Looked up at the sky and saw that star
Still shining, still beautiful, but still so far.
My only wish is that of you,
Do you think my wish upon a star can come true?
