If the eyes are a window to a soul,
Then in your eyes I see;
A heart that runs as true as mine,
A heart that feels so deep.
In my life I was at a point,
When no more would I search;
To try to find my last great love,
She was not upon this earth.
When I saw your picture Bev,
When I read your words;
Hope again, rose in my soul,
Was it you for whom I searched?
A few dates we had, the times were good;
Then for whatever reason dear;
I turned and ran away from you,
What was it that I feared?
Did I fear the closeness?
Which so desperately was sought?
Or did I fear the feelings,
Which in my heart were felt?
The time apart was miserable,
It truly was for me;
In my mind you always were,
Then our second chance came to be!
But too soon again, apart we were,
I felt lost upon a sea;
Without a sail to catch the wind,
Lost eternally.
Now we’re back together,
And in your eyes I’ve found,
All that I’ve been looking for,
A soul to match my own.
You’ve given me more than a pen,
Can ink upon some lines;
More than words of poetry,
Can ever hope to find.
A reason for existence,
To walk together side by side;
In this world, into the next;
We’ll stand the test of time.
