Fairytale Story
by Michaela Chan
My friend inspired me to write this poem, it isn't true. but i hope you enjoy reading it anyway. :)

Intense euphoria a dream-like atmosphere,
An illusion coming true for the tainted girl.
By the window she would have sat,
Lonesome tears streamed onto her lap.

Soon all her fantasies of becoming free,
Soon became true, opening the lock and key.
As the radiant sand sunk between her toes,
She fell for a guy and they got so very close.

Days became weeks, their love was endless,
Watching the sunset her lips he caressed.
But soon he became distant and left without a clue,
As he walked away when she said 'I love you'.

She fought with all her strength to hold in the tears,
Finding her heart felt like it was punctured by spheres.
Soon he called her and told her they should meet,
Because he couldn’t cope with all his deceit.

He held her hands with dew drop tears in his eyes,
He gave her a rose and prayed to the skies.
It was then that he told her that he was getting weak,
For he had cancer and his life was becoming bleak.

Without a last word he had walked away,
Leaving her with memories feeling utmost dismay.
As the days became colder and the night grew dark,
That was the last day she ever trusted her heart.

As days went on and months rushed by,
A year had passed and not a sound nor sigh.
Until one morning she found a letter on her bed,
Opening the envelope she found an invitation instead.

She threw it to the floor glaring at the wedding invite,
But knowing she should be happy instead of all the spite,
She had guessed that he had recovered so well,
And now he loved another and her tears did swell.

As she picked up the envelope as if it was a curse,
Opening the invite to read the opening verse.
For it was an invite like no other she'd seen,
And as she began to read it and her eyes did beam.

"I love you my darling with all of my heart,
I am so well now and I never want us apart,
For if you forgive me and my painful recovery,
Will you please be my bride to be"?

And if that wasn’t the biggest surprise of her life,
She’d found an engagement ring carved with a knife.
Their names were together and her dreams became true,
As the fairy tale ended with a kiss and "I do."
