Summer In September |
by Cherry |
I remember the first time we met
But little did I know
How hard it would turn out to be
To have to let you go
Sitting out in the summer shade
With my feet up on your knees
And for the first time in forever
Someone saw me for me
You showed me what love was
You taught me how to feel
It was going to be beautiful
It was going to be real
But one night all that changed
Even your voice over the phone
You left me broken in the agony
Of an endless dial tone
In the moment of one heartbeat
And in the beauty of my fall
You broke apart your promises
My heart, my love. my all
Boy, you should have been there
To see the look upon my face
When I heard about the girl
Who had come to take my place
You may try and forget
But I'll always remember
How beautiful the world can be
When its summer in September |
