My Grandfather |
by Caitie Lynn |
You've been around all my life.
Watching me grow into a young lady.
You've been there through all the struggle and strife.
Thinking and praying for me daily.
I remember all the times we have spent.
Playing around and having fun.
Picking blackberries and spending every cent.
Eating piminto cheese sandwiches, not leaving a single crumb.
I remember when we would hunt for snow.
Looking for a good spot to sled.
Never giving up until we found the place to go.
And you were always there, at the head.
I am so lucky to be able to call you my grandfather.
And I am honored to do such.
It brings me great joy, being your granddaughter.
I love you oh so very much.
Sixteen years of knowing you.
Sixteen years soon to be seventeen.
It seems like so long, but to tell the truth.
It isn't long enough for me.
You mean so much to me,
More then I could ever show.
There is so much I would love to tell you,
Things I want you to know.
I'm sorry for any pain I have caused you.
For not always being a perfect little girl.
I'm sorry for not always telling the truth.
For causing things to be a whirl.
I'm sorry for being boisterous and loud.
Waking you up from your daily nap.
Always being young and messing around.
Causing little troubles and mishaps.
My life has taken a turn for the good.
And for that I know you rejoice.
I am so glad, all that time you understood.
You let me make the choice.
You are a man of great wisdom and wonder.
Loving more with each passing day.
You have been there through the rain and thunder.
Always listening to what I had to say.
My dearest grandfather.
The best of them all.
I am lucky to be your granddaughter.
You were willing to catch me whenever I would fall.
I love you more then I could ever relay.
And I know you love me as well.
My dearest grandfather I look forward to the rest of our days.
Together under a heavenly spell.
***I was told to write a poem for my grandpa for Christmas, this is it. Hope you like it.***
