Changing Love |
by Ann Marie |
I wish I had the words to say
To bring a smile to your face
I wish I could snap my fingers
And put her love back into place
I’d tell her to think long and hard
Before she walks out the door
After that, each step gets easier
Doing right becomes a chore
I wish I could tell her that
She’ll regret it if she leaves
That things will never be the same
But my words she’ll not believe
If she takes advantage of the trust
That you have placed in her
She’ll have to earn it back again
But it won’t be a trust that’s pure
I wish I could promise you
That it will all end up okay
That she’ll recall why she fell in love
And won’t let that love decay
But love always changes
As the years pass us by
The roots of love can spread and grow
But sometimes we let them die
