i can't be there |
by gillian burton |
i can't be there
to hold you
like the day that you were born
i gave your face a little kiss
you gave a little yawn
you'd got 10 tiny fingers and 10 tiny toes
all topped off with the cute'st nose
i can't be there
to watch you grow
but in my heart i just know
you'll grow to be a perfect boy
and give your parents so much joy
i can't be there
to hold your hand
to take to the park
and play in the sand
when you fall down and start to cry
to pick you up and wipe tears dry
i can't be there
to watch you run
with all your friends while you have fun
i cant be there to kiss goodnight
to give you hugs and hold you tight
but as i can't
i sit and pray
that you'll come looking for me one day
to give me just a hug and kiss
and say "dear nan-nan this is what iv'e missed" |
