6500 miles
by Julie Schleppegrell
She's six thousand five hundred miles away.
I say a prayer for her every day.
That God brings her back to our wide open arms.
And that he keeps her safely away from what harms.
Cause she's six thousand five hundred miles away.
So we wait to hear from her every day.
We send her our love, our hugs and our kisses.
And tell her that she's the one everyone misses.
Oh, six thousand five hundred miles away.
It seems like forever, we're counting each day.
Until she comes back to see our smiling faces.
To tell us her stories of far away places.
Cause she's six thousand five hundred miles away.
Fighting a war, in a land far away.
She ain't gonna say if it's right or it's wrong.
She's just doing her job, every day, Army Strong.
Oh, six thousand five hundred miles away.
"Keep our heads held high." That's what they all say.
She will come back to see we made it through.
An Army Family, We're tried and we're true.

I'm six thousand five hundred miles away.
I say a prayer for family everyday.
That God brings me back to their wide open arms.
And that he keeps us safely away from what harms.
Cause I'm six thousand five hundred miles away.
So I hope to talk to them everyday.
I send them my love, my hugs and my kiss.
And tell them that their the ones that i miss.
Oh, six thousand five hundred miles away.
It seems like forever, I'm counting each day.
Until I come back to see smiling faces.
To tell them my stories of far away places.
Cause I'm six thousand five hundred miles away.
Fighting a war, in a land far away.
I ain't gonna say if it's right or it's wrong.
I'm just doing my job, every day, Army strong.
Oh, six thousand five hundred miles away.
"Keep my head held high." That's what they all say.
I will come back to see we all made it through.
An Army Family, We're tried and we're true.
